Congratulations to the 2022 NCCWSL AAUW-TN Scholarship Winner!

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) of Tennessee has selected Avery Vantrease as a 2022 scholarship recipient for the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders (NCCWSL) based on her track record of commitment, leadership and compassion.

The two-and-a-half-day NCCWSL is a conference designed to enhance the leadership skills of female college students

Many on and outside the UTK campus have had the pleasure of working with Vantrease through the Student Government Association (SGA), the LGBTQ+ organization she created for business students, and in her many facets of engaged outreach.

Vantrease, a supply chain student in the Haslam College of Business, has been named a trailblazer by her colleagues and peers. Many who have had the pleasure to work alongside the college senior have said she is someone they look to for mentorship and support.

“I would describe Avery as organized, persistent, and highly motivated,” a member of the SGA Executive Committee shared. “She constantly exceeds expectations by using her ability to identify a problem and apply a well thought out solution.”

Vantrease is the Chair of the Sustainability Committee in the Undergraduate Student Senate for SGA, Executive Secretary on the SGA Cabinet, and Founder and President of LGBTQ+ Association of Business Scholars.
